Transfer Credits

Students may generally transfer credits for graduate level courses taken elsewhere if they were not counted towards a previous degree, and if they were of a suitable academic nature equivalent to courses they could also have taken here at the CUNY Graduate Center.  Usually, no more than 12 credits will be counted for transfer credit, and such credits are awarded only upon application and in consultation with the MALS Executive Officer.

The following restrictions apply to these transfer credits:

• Must have been completed with a grade of B or higher.
• Must be comprable to courses offered by the Ph.D. programs at The Graduate Center.

(Courses in creative or professional writing are not acceptable for transfer credit.)
